Regulation Amendments Consultation Spring 2009

Manitoba Conservation has a list of proposed regulatory amendments (PDF) up on their site. Here is a quick summary of the proposed changes:

  • All livestock operations, including those in Hanover or Labroquerie, will have to comply with the phosphorus (P) regulations as of 2013. That is, N-based for fields < 60 ppm soil test P, 2x crop removal for 60-120 ppm, 1x crop removal for 120-180 ppm, and no P application for fields > 180 ppm.
  • Winter spreading will be banned by 2013 across the province for all operations
  • New or expanding hog operations will have to submit Manure Management Plans regardless of size
  • New/Expanding manure storages are to be limited to 500 days of storage
