This is a rough year for grain farmers across the Prairies. In Manitoba it took a long time to get the crops in due to the amount of water in the fields. Some areas are still too wet to seed. Our clients managed to get most of their fields seeded, so now we’re just hoping to a long, frost-free fall.
In Alberta and Saskatchewan, fields are far too dry. If they don’t get rain soon, there may not be any crop this year.
We need to find a way to ship our excess water out west instead of draining it into Lake Winnipeg. Anyone want to start a project to tilt the Prairie provinces to the west for a few years? (grin)
