Sometimes it can be awkward to figure out what herbicides to use to control a combination of weeds in a crop. You may also miss out on some less pricey or more effective options for weed control. This is where a herbicide selector program can come in handy.
I was unable to find one for Manitoba, but Alberta has a very nice herbicide selector. Put in your crop, crop stage, and the weeds you want to control and it will provide you with a list of options. It provides you with the product, chemical groups, the relative cost, and any restrictions.
Since herbicide registrations change from year to year and from place to place, it is unlikely that all possible herbicides will be listed. Be aware that products may be registered differently in different regions so check to make sure that the product you want to use is registered for your region. As always, be sure to read product labels before applying or you may end up with a nasty surprise!
