Clubroot-resistant canola widely available in 2010

I found this post interesting Clubroot-resistant canola widely available in 2010. It’s not so much the clubroot resistance that interests me as clubroot isn’t a major problem around here, it’s that this is a canola with more features and without loss of yield.

As is doubtless apparent from my other posts, I feel that genetically modified crops are a good thing and that they will play a key part in helping us avoid doomsday scenarios such as those described by Malthus or Silent Spring. There are problems with modern agriculture, but the way out is forward and developing better practices and solutions. Saying that we should all live “naturally” off the land is tantamount to saying that six out of seven people currently alive should drop dead. Our current practices feed the world, now we need to work on improving them so that we can go on feeding the hungry while not consuming irreplaceable resources. We’re not there yet, but I have every confidence we will get there.
