Sincere, Honest Words

Martin Entz has an article in this week’s Western Producer (page 10) where he discusses the problems with biotech companies’ words. Dr. Entz has been working on sustainable agriculture for years and his presentations are definitely worth listening to.

I think that biotech will be one of the things that keeps farmers producing more food per acre for years to come. At the same time, I don’t think our current biotech setup is a viable one. Too much of the increased production gets locked down and devoured by the companies that develop new crops. There has to be a way of encouraging plant breeders to develop better crops without then locking up those crops.

If you’re looking for unconventional and yet proven ideas for sustainable farming, Dr Martin Entz is a great person to talk to. He has the knowledge, the numbers, and the experience to provide a lot of very practical information.
